July 12: The 18th. Annual Country Antique Market - Colony School:
Quality antiques (early country, primitives, folk art, pottery, textiles) on lawn of Colony
School. Proceeds to benefit Bishop Hill’s Volunteer Fire Dept. Promoted by Bishop Hill

July 27: ANTIQUE CAR SHOW:
Antique and classic car show. 9 a.m.-Noon- Registration Noon-1:30 p.m.-Judging 3 p.m.-

August 2008:
August 16 - 17: The 2nd. Annual Clay & Fiber Festival:
2nd. annual Clay & Fiber Festival featuring a wide variety of potters and weavers
demonstrating their talents.  Many beautiful items for purchase.  Demonstrations and a
contest with cash prizes will be taking place as well.  Saturday evening will be a soup
supper.  Contact Jeff Goard, Bishop Hill potter at 309-927-3008 for more information.  
Wonderful examples of pottery and weaving will be on display during the month of August,
so come early and often.  

September 2008:
September 13: Old Settler's Day:
Celebration of the 162nd anniversary of the Bishop Hill Colony and the 112th year of the
Old Settlers’ Association. 11:30 a.m. - Traditional Chicken Dinner 12:30 p.m. - High
Society Band Concert 1:30 p.m. - Program featuring Bishop Hill Colony Descendants

September 14: Colony School Reunion:
Reunion of students and teachers from the Bishop Hill Colony School and area country

September 27: - 28: Jordbruksdagarna Agriculture Days
Celebrating Bishop Hill’s agrarian heritage, this event features traditional 19th century
harvest activities and demonstrations, hands-on activities, music, farm produce, vintage base
ball, and Colony stew.  Bishop Hill State Historic Site, Illinois Historic Preservation Agency
10am - 5pm.

November 2008:

December 25, 2008 - Julotta: Candlelight nondenominational service in the Colony
Church.  Service conducted in English and Swedish.  Coffee and rusks served following
service at 6a.m.  Sponsored by Bishop Hill State Historic Site and Illinois Historic
Preservation Agency.
